If you like Piña Colada’s and getting caught passed out drunk in the front yard, then this weeks drink is perfect for you! You guessed it, (I hope) this week’s drink is the Piña Colada. This iconic drink is a delicious mix of pineapple, coconut, and rum, that is sure to liven up your next beach party, or the next time you get drunk in the bath tub. The official birthplace of this drink is the Caribe Hilton Hotel’s Beachcomber Bar in San Juan. The proud (and probably intoxicated) creator Ramón ‘Monchito’ Marrero Pérez was experimenting with the then new Coco López, or cream of coconut. Although the much more interesting story claims that the drink was created by the pirate Roberto Cofresí in the 1820’s, we have to yield to the two proclamations from the Puerto Rican government, officially declaring the Caribe Hilton the birthplace. The drink is so revered that there is a National Piña Colada Day celebrated on July 10th throughout the Puerto Rican islands.
Piña Colada
Ingredients
- 1 oz Light Rum
Mixers
- 1 oz Coconut Cream
- Pineapple Juice
Instructions
- Fill Glass With Ice
- Add Rum
- Add Mixers To Flavor
- Garnish With Cherry & Pineapple
- Stir & Enjoy!

The Piña Colada is the perfect drink for the beach, the bar, or being terrible at cheating on your significant other (that’s what the song is actually about, it’s not the innocent song about getting plastered in the rain we all thought it was.)
